PASSENGER Limited Edition ZINE - from $40 signed & numbered

from $40.00

Only 50 copies printed.

Passenger is a photographic meditation on the unseen journeys carried within public life. Set aboard the Sydney ferry network, the series transforms the ferry from a mode of transport into a quiet metaphor for the passage of human experience. Each crossing becomes a reflection on life itself: a movement between points known and unknown, the past and future, and who we are in-between, before we have fully arrived. Within the shared space of the ferry, passengers sit beside one another in physical proximity while remaining enclosed within private worlds. Hidden in plain sight, a face turns toward the harbour, a body leans into the window, a glance holds in the middle distance. Small, unguarded moments suggest complex stories beneath the surface of everyday routine.

Drawing on the language of fine art and street photography, Passenger observes without intrusion. The scenes resist fixed narrative, instead offering fragments of human presence that invite the viewer to imagine what remains unspoken. In this way, the series considers the ferry as both vessel and symbol: a container of bodies, but also of thought, memory and becoming. Passenger ultimately reflects on the human condition through the ordinary ritual of crossing water.

Public transport is elevated from an anonymous system to a moving stage, a kaleidoscope of individual experience. Each passenger is both present and elsewhere, travelling through the city while also moving through the larger, more mysterious passage of their own journey, towards their own uncharted destination.
